Klausturbleikja, Iceland - Land-Based Aquaculture & Water Venture

2022

In 2022, Whitehay Capital acquired a 200-acre site in Iceland to develop a pioneering land-based agriculture project, set amidst extreme natural beauty and powered by some of the world’s purest natural water springs. The project focuses on the sustainable production of the fish Arctic Char, with future plans to expand into premium water bottling.

We identified exceptional long-term value in the land and its pristine water resources an ideal setting for scalable, environmentally responsible aquaculture. The site benefits from clean energy access, spring-fed water, and naturally  conditions that support fish health and efficient growth.

Our ambition is to become a leading premium supplier of Arctic Char to European and global markets, while also unlocking the potential of Iceland’s exceptional natural water through a future high-quality bottling venture. This project is a flagship example of Whitehay’s commitment to future-facing agriculture that balances commercial performance with environmental integrity.
